Well i searched through 8 pages with no luck. And i looked at the Lighting FAQ. Ive replaced the bulbs and still nothing. I dont think its the multifunction switch because the wipers and blinkers are fine. The bright lights dont turn on when i pull it back or push it foward either. I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

tilt the steering wheel while you have high beams on do they flicker/ try to go on?

does the high beam light light up on the dash board?

the light on the dashboard doesnt come on either.

the multifunction switch has 2 connectors one is for wipers / blinkers and the other for lights, i would just go and peek if the connector is pulled out or not first.

the gen 2 had issues with the multi function switch connector tabs breaking and the connector coming out as if they made the harness 1/4 inch too short.

battery box fuse 11 is 20amp this is power and used for both high/low beams.

then in vehicle fuse box fuse 33 15amp is high beam fuse.

but before it powers fuse 33 15amp it goes through the multi function switch first.

I'm new to this group, and am glad to have joined some other Explorer enthusiasts. I know it's been a while since anyone posted on this thread, but I'd like to try and bring it back to life.

I have a 99 Eddie Bauer and am having the same issues with no bright lights: No bright lights, no flash to pass, and no hi-beam indicator. I am wondering where the wiring connector is that I should check to make sure it is connected?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Well, good news to report here! After double-checking, I'd overlooked the fact that fuse 33 was missing from my fuse box...replaced it and now I have bright lights!

In the process of checking out the MFS, I was able to disconnect the chime for key in ignition that had been dinging all the time, so that's awesome as well. :)

Thanks everyone for the posts. So glad I found this forum!

How did it go missing? Glad you where able to fix it.

That is a good question! I bought the truck just over a year ago, and have never had high beams until today! I suspect that perhaps a previous owner "borrowed" fuse 33 to replace a blown fuse in another location? Not really sure.

By the way, my Eddie Bauer is black as well. I think it's a great-looking color combo :)
