broken antenna? help please

ive had a brand new sony headunit (forgot the model number but its the one w/ the black face that flips down) and it works fine except for the radio. every other car but mine has really good reception. when i listen to a local station (z100 or krock or 104.3 for me) it fades in and out and i never get a strong signal. could this be a sign of a bad antenna? any ideas? thanks alot.

sounds more like a bad connection somewhere...like where the antenns cable plugs into the reciever

Explorer antennae have been known to corrode when water gets past the plastic shield around the base of the antenna. I think I have a similar problem with mine, and apparently the only solution is a new antenna.
