A co-worker of mine was changing brake pads on his 97 Ford F-150 and the caliper slipped disconnecting this brake line...
vbgarage.php

He used a hose clamp to hold it on temperarily, and refilled the fluid. Does anyone know if this flexible line needs to be replaced or how it attaches to the hard line? And also are his brakes now "squishy" on the pedal due to air in the lines after the hose became disconnected?

Thanks for any help,

Brian

Thats an oops... I would replace the brake hose (about $30) since it was damaged and can now fail at any time. If the brakes are squishy it is indeed due to air getting into the system. Replace the hose and bleed the brakes until the fluid runs clear and is bubble free.

He will have to replace the entire line. The rubber part is molded together with the short hardline at the caliper. I hope to god he isnt out driving it with a hose clamp on it....
