Hey, havent posted on the site for a while...busy with school
Anybody have a door that wont shut before? The drivers door on my 93 is loose, and the nader pin doesnt line up with the latching mechanism so the door wont latch. I have noticed that the door is off set and is "loose". Of course, the hinges are permanaent and of course the hinge doesnt have a bolt but a rivet, so am i going to have to buy a new hinge from a junkyard, or will I be able to tighten the door back up to its correct seat? Also, fyi is this ever happens to you DONT pull hard on your door handle inside because you will break it off (not the door opener but the other handle). So i have to get one of those anyways. Of course there is s now on the ground and this may have to wait till it melts where i wont mind trudgeing throgh a junk yard to get the parts. Any chance of tightening and alleviating the problem for a while? Thanks

my door has teh same problem, it hangs down a bit like someone hung off of it with all their weight,it should be up more.it closes but theres a gap and the wind can whistle thru soetimes. annoying but its the least of my probs now..

thanks for responding...your the only one i see...

i just tested out a 91' 4dr-4x4 eddie bauer today and it ALSO has driver door issues,
it closes tight swing ok but theres a very loud CLICK! when you open the door, generated right at the hinge by a worn/flat spot, it would definitely be annoying hearing that everytime you got in the car..

guess this is another thing thats typical with Ex's ... no clue for a fix though

do a search for sagging drivers door. Number of posts and quick fixes. Common problem for 1genX. the sagging is because your hinge pins and bushings are worn out. the lower is usually the first to go...then the upper. If left unfixed...it eventually wears out your locking device causing the door not to close completly. any auto store will carry replacement door hinge kits. takes a couple hours max to replace the hinges. if you have also worn out the door latch that is a dealer part, and a little more involved to replace. both are pretty straight forward and covered in your Haines manual and or this site. BTW the easiest way to get the old hinge pins off is a dremmel...just cut them and replace! Hope this helps

thanks for the help. I have to get to the junk yard for a new door panel part and have to check with the auto parts store if they have a hinge fix kit.

I replaced the hinge pins on my `92. It was easy. It does require a Rotary (dremel) tool and a Flex Shaft makes it 100x easier!

Using a cut off wheel (or 4 in my case) on the Flex shaft attachment, Cut the original hinge pins in half and pull them out. Another set of hands makes this MUCH easier. Replace BOTH at the same time. Make sure you press the bushings in place real good. I used a clamp (the type with a 'trigger' to apply pressure) to press them in place.

All this took me about 1 hour to complete. I did have to go to 2-3 different stores to find the right one. If I remember correctly though, it's listed as a F-150 Hinge Pin, and makes no mention of a Ranger or Explorer in the book. But it fits. Believe me.

thanks, yeh i tackled it this weekend, just did the bottom one
wasnt easy because i didnt have exactly the right tool and it took me a while to figure out which part of the pins to grind..

I've already seen them so worn out that it takes some welding to fix.

What I generally do if the holes are hogged out is to weld them up and re-drill. Makes for a nice tight new hole for the bushing and pin kit. No need to even remove the hinge from the door or frame.
