Broken hood release

The hood release on my 2001 isn't working, the cabe might be broken or jammed, is there a easy way to manually release the hood? Saturday its going on the lift regardless, just seeing if anyone else has had this problem.

Is the cable streched out under the dash? If so disconnect the cable from the plastic pull handle. What I had to do was put a crescent wrench on the "ball" at the end of the cable and give it a good tug and it popped open. Just plan on replacing the cable right away, it's about $40 from ford.

Got it fixed, my buddy who is a Ford dealer mechanic, put it up on his lift and squirted the heck out of it with WD-40, works great.
