Hi this is my first time here and I'm in a real bind . I just changed the clutch in my 93 explorer ( stock ) and when I was taking the clutch line off I broke that little white sleeve that holds the fitting . Now the whole thing is back together and after trying to rig the thing to stay in there I can't depress my clutch pedal to start the truck . It's a 4 liter 5 speed . Any help would be amazing since I use the truck for work it's my only vehicle and I'm staying in motels . I actually had to do the job in the parking lot of this motel and man that is not easy :(

I'm not sure if you can get the white sleeve ring seperately at the parts store, but the dealer may have it.

Otherwise you'd probably have to get it off a vehicle at the salvage yard or from someone who's parting out.

Thanks for the info

Hell if i could just understand why the pedal won't go in now I'd be a happy guy, I had to buy another truck the other day just to get to work .

But I'd rather have the explorer working .

The fitting with the white sleeve is for the clutch master cylinder, the white sleeve lets you push it in to disengage and remove the master cylinder fitting from the connection to the clutch slave cylinder inside the transmission housing.

It's possible the master cyl. fitting can still be pushed into the slave, but it probably won't be positioned correctly to allow fluid flow. My guess would be without the ring on there to center it, it's too far away from the slave fitting, and so the pedal just compresses the fluid in the master cylinder, which can only push against the fitting since it's not open to the slave cyl.

New master cylinders come with a new fitting and sleeve if you feel like replacing it to get the show on the road. It's a little pricey but quite less than a new truck. Be sure whatever master cyl you get that it has an all-metal shaft with it. The plastic ones (including the original factory plastic ones) tend to snap quite easily.

The replacment master cyl's from Ford have metal shafts.

I'm a visual guy , I also do alot of plumbing

as a renovator and I couldn't figure out how the line actually goes in and out with the hydraulic pressure so I rigged the fitting back in hoping it would work. The clutch pedal goes about half way in easily then it takes all my leg force to go to the floor but still not enough to get it to the start point.

A picture of the inside of the fitting would be invaluable.
