as i was hooking up my tb lines i noticed that the tube is broken.

now it wouldnt be that big of a deal but i noticed that the vaccuum line has a hard plastic inner lining and that i leads to a white plastic module where it splits.

the line from the tb to the white plastic module is broken, and it looks like the white plastic module had a hard plastic mount that fractured off.

theres another line coming off the module leading to the vaccuum tree, and i cant find any mention of what it is in my haynes book.

any idea what that module is and where i can get a new one?

or how to fix it?

The line on the bottom/front of the throttle body (where the butterfly valve is) goes to the purge solenoid. From the Purge solenoid it goes to the charcoal canister. The other hose on the charcoal canister runs to the back of the vehicle and connects to the top of the tank.

None of those lines run to the vacuum tree that is on the side of the upper intake.

Are we talking about the same vacuum line?

Yeah, above is a picture of where I broke mine... right at the purge valve. I had to get a new valve. The original line has an elbow piece that attached to the TB. I pulled that off and tossed the rest of the line. I then got a piece of 1/4" fuel hose, clamped one end to the new valve and the other end to the elbow, then reattached to the TB.

I also replaced the section of line that goes from the valve to the canister with 1/4" fuel hose. The original line is really tight and I was afraid to force the valve connectors in and risk breaking them again.

I clamped one end to the valve, and the other end to a coupler. I then attached the coupler to a portion of hose that was solid on the canister.

yep that exactly how mine broke. lol at first i was like how did that guy get a pic of my engine???????

so a purge valve is what its called. hopefully these arent hard/ expensive to aquire

I got my replacement for about $40 at rockauto. It was Motorcraft. That was about the same price as the cheaper brands locally (the Motorcraft was almost $70 locally), so I went with it.

I was able to use some needle nose pliers to pull that broken white piece out, but I felt like I about tore a bicep doing it. Heh. Then when I tried to plug the new one back in it was just taking too much force. I got very nervous. So I went with the fuel hose. It snugs in pretty decent, and then I snugged it down a bit further with a clamp.
