bronco 302 into an X?

ok, so next weekend I'm picking up RFR2212's sport project minus the motor, tranny, and t-case. I'm torn between putting junkyard stock x gear in it, or saving the money and re-V8ing it. I know everyone loves the mustang 5.0, but I was wondering if I found a full sized 4x4 like a bronco or F150, how hard would it be to slide the entire assembly t-case and all in. Has anyone tried it yet?

so I'm the only one who's though of doing this??? find that hard to believe, I just go find a wrecked 4x4 in the yard and take some measurements.
