Welcome

I am by no means a transmission expert but I do have the same truck and same trans and occasionally mine used to be a beast to get into gear. I have read that it is the slave cylinder. I have been running Merc V in it (not sure what exactly was init before I got it) but the Merc V definately helped out in the cold whether - goes in much smoother now. The T-Case also takes Merc V - or at least that what I have been running since '08.

The fill/check and drain plug are on the driverside of the tranny - If I remember it is either a 19 or 21mm

Thanks mike....in fact it just started in the cold weather this year. so how much is full ?

I think it is about 2 1/2 Qts... I had 3 to start with and still had a bit left over. Do yourself a favor tho - get one of the filler spouts with the hose that screws on the end of a QT bottle - or a hand pump - it is kind of a squeeze to get in there -

Also if there was the heavy gear oil in it (some ppl run 75w90 in them) you will have to change it out a couple times.

If it still sticks in cold whether you might need to look into getting the clutch and slave cyl re&re

so do I fill it till it starts coming out the fill hole ? How do I gauge if it's full ?

yep. til the cup runeth over :D

OK....other then that it always shifts fairly smoothly. I've noticed this problem only a couple times in the last 3 wks. about the time it got COLD ! i'm in north central ore. on the columbia river....having early winter.....thanks for all the input...Jim

make sure to stick around - lots of great info here :D

I'm sure i'll have more questions. I just got rid of the fuel pump noise in the c.b. ....very pleased about that ! and ran across some nifty pic's for changing the electric fuel pump. I'm a fan of the manuel pumps like on my '84. ok...thanks for the help ...Jim
