Brown wire mod question

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if the brown wire mod works for the 1st Gen. explorer too? Also if it does, what exactly does it do? Thanks in advance.

Nep, doesnt apply to the 1st generation since the transfer case has a mechanical 2wd mode engaged by the shift motor.

It wont work on a 1st gen explorer since you can have 2wd. On the gen 2s though if we have 4wd it is always in Auto 4wd or you can switch it to 4wd high or low. The Auto 4wd allows us to run in 2wd but if the tire start to slip it will engage 4wd. So we can do the brown wire mod and keep it in 2wd for good and not worry about the 4wd engaging. But with the flick of a switch we can turn it back to 4wd.
