2001 Explorer Sport Trac
Hello everyone! I'm new to this board and was not sure were to ask this question so I thought the lounge area was as good a place as any. I purchased a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac ( Fully Loaded) and have been looking around for Brush Gaurds. I have found a couple from westin and rhino but was hoping there were others to choose from? Also because the vehicle is so new the aftermarket is not the best can the same things for the 2001 Explorer fit on the Sport Trac seen as there sitting on the same chasis? Any help would be greatly appreciated in advance thank you all...Rob L.

tbomb,I'm on Probetalk ALL THE TIME! LOL
I got alot of help from that ubb and when I found this board yesterday I was all excited hoping I would find alot of info for my new toy also.

heh, awesome! i know a few guys over there (bufalo = greg martin, and i grew up with HowLeTT = Mike Lundberg, etc.) well, welcome to this site; youll find the info and the people around here are very helpful. i found this site a few months ago, just poking around on a rainy day....thousands of dollars later, im addicted :)

btw, the pgt looks good :D

The '01 Explorer has a different shaped front end than the Sport Trac. The '01 Explorer Sport does have the same as the Sport Trac though. (I think) They would probably be able to fit both vehicles.
Get the part number for a brush guard for an '01 Sport and an '01 Sport Trac from a company that makes one for both of them. If the number is the same, then brush guard for Sports from other companies should also fit a Sport Trac.

Thanks tbomb, yea I know those guys also from the board. Howletts ride is tight also. Well having toys is getting expensive...trying to fix up the PGT ,Sport Trac and I also bought a new 2001 17 1/2 foot Bass boat on june 1st that im working on addind things to.

Thanks to you also yob_yeknom: I'll look into that but most companies dont list both and thats why I was hoping to find someone on this board that has a Sport Trac and could help me out?

I checked the Westin website. www.westinautomotive.com The same grille guards are used for the '01 Explorer Sport and the Sport Trac. It should also be the same for other companies. Even if they don't list one for the Sport Trac, the one listed for the '01 Sport should work.

I flipped real quick through Performance Produtcs and they have a Go Rhino grill guard. Runs $460 for a black one and $700+ for a chrome. www.performanceproducts.com

Rob,
Check out www.mysporttrac.com There's a bunch of listings on the aftermarket section. The Waag brushguards seem to be popular.

I've got a Westin on my 95. The quality is not too bad, the fit is a little bad, and the instructions are pretty bad....overall...it's fantastic for the price!! LOL!
I'm happy with mine since i'm not concerned with the way it looks (it's a guard that's built to protect the bumper and lights from damage, so,IMO, i think a pretty one is not necessary.)

Wow thanks for all the help everyone, this is really going to help out. And I apologize to the moderator or admin that moved my post to the correct place.I'm new and learning I'll get with the program...Thanks again.

You could also take a look at a company called Dead Link Removed. They have a really cool one for the ordinary explorer, don't know about the sport-track though... I personally REALLY want one of those...(as soon as I get the money for one..

have ya tried manik? I personally like gorhino, but.. just for the sake of listing brands.. there manik, westin, gorhino, steel horse, smittybuilt, and maap. I'm not sure if all these brands make it for your specific model, but these are all brands that make guards and are worth a look into.

hope that helps

Hi Rob L.
Welcome to the site.
A grill guard is a nice thing to have, but before you go out and spend your hard earned money on one, ask yourself, am I going to just looks or am I ever gonna need a winch in the future.
If you ever think about putting a winch on the front, you might want to hold off or get a grill guard/winch mount right away. I have a Ramsey and it looks just like the Euro guards(except I have a winch on it). The standard grill guards don't have the strength to mount a winch to them unless you beef them up conciderably, then your spending alot of money on the mods when you could've just bought th right one in the first place.
Plan ahead before you start to mod your truck. It will save you a bunch in the long run.

and don't forget

Warn and Smittybuilt (haha you will wait forever for a smitty though...they are slooowwww )

I have a Warn Combo trans4mer that is awesome....comes with optional light bar or winch mount... I love it and the price was right...

I saw a guy at the launch ramp today with a Manik on his... (I've seen him aorund town before too). I think it looks quite nice... it's a black Sport Trac with a Black Manik one-piece. Didn't pay attention to the mounting, though... sorry.

If your still looking for a brushguard I would definately go with the westin sportsman. (The classic is kinda ungly). I have the black Westin sportsman on my 2000 explorer 4door and it looks really good. They are made specifically for each car so they look really custom. I would go with the black if you dont have a black sporttrac but if your sportrac is black then id go with a chrome/stainless steel.
Dont know if your still looking for one but owell maybe this helped.

Thank you all for responding to my question,I do have a Black Sport Trac but I like the black on black look -vs- the chrome on black. I have decided to go with the wagg brush gaurd, taillight gaurds and the bumper gaurd.
