My Bulldog/Remote Start is rated at like 400' and no matter what I do I can't get over 40 or 50. The antenna is only like 2 feet long, so I mounted it as high into the dash as possible, but range still sucked. I pulled it out from the dash, still bad. Even with the door open in a perfectly clear line of site, no windows or anything, range isn't over 50'. I don't know if the transmitter has a battery or what, but its brand new so I don't think thats it. If I can get it figured out I'm going to splice another piece of wire so I can at least get it up to the windshield so the signal has to go through glass, but right now thats not the problem.....Any ideas or experiences with bulldog.

It may have been sitting on a shelf for a long time. It wouldn't hurt to change the battery in the transmitter and see if that helps.

I installed a bulldog remote start last week and I certainly get more than 50 feet. I dont know about 400 though. Try a new battery. It is very easy to pop the transmitter open. Sorry I cant really help.

try going up high in a building.. like 5 or 10 stories up.. then try.. i heard higher elevation with nothing in the way helps. i can remote start my car from 10 stories up and 500 feet from the building. mine a audiovox though

change the batt my fiend ...it`s not normal ! mine works at over 1000 feets !

The 97 explorer i just bought had a bulldog remote start already installed. I put a new battery in the remote and i still can't get it to work farther than 20 feet away. Any suggestions? I am definitely planning on trying to find the antenna and move it soon though.

Thanks,

Ev

Got a new battery, extended the antenna, still ****ty range, no idea what to do now.

matbe it's a defect. is it possible for you to return it for a new one? hopefully.

directly from the instruction manual "do not place antenna near any metal parts or near the main computer control"
