Explorer Express offers new bumpstops.

The Explorer Express stops for lowered explorers work well; I have them.

I lowered mine 2" and just drilled holes in the bump stops. It helped quite a bit...

Explorer Express' bump stop cost $89. $89 for 4 pieces of rubbers! Now, stop and think how much to manufacture these things and you'd realize how much OVERPRICED these are.

Sorry EE, just one man's opinion.

yeah im a baller on a budget. i was seeing if there was another option. All i need is the front, but i was looking for a way to do it a little cheaper.

I got Energy Suspension low profile bumpstops from the auto store. They are about $20 and give you about 2 inches of travel in the rear and 1 1/2 in the front on an Explorer lowered approx. 2.5 inches.

11/16 button head.

Everyone can have their own opinion.

The $89. kit includes front bump stops and rear bumpers.

The bump stops we use are the factory style from a different application. There have a different profile than stock. They allow more travel than stock but they are more forgiving than the buttonhead type when you do bottom out.

The rear bumpers are made by Energy Suspension and then modified by Explorer Express. They are progressive (hollow in the center). These rear bumpers do make a difference.

We tried many different products and combinations. We were going for the best handling with the best ride quality possible. It is always possible to do it for less, but the results won't be the same. If you don't care about the ride quality I guess it does not matter.

I have tried the other stops but the ones from EE are definately better than anything else out there. I do wish the front allowed more travel.

Cut off your bumpstop bracket and remount it higher.

Well, not much to elaborate about, but you do have the option of cutting off the bracket that holds the bumpstop in the front, and then rewelding it a little higher up to allow for more clearance. I would not remount it more than 1/2-3/4 inches higher than the stock location because then you'll start being restricted by the balljoints.

Is it worth the $89? I just need a little more convincing...

Oh yeah, EE got great products. No doubt. But the question is: Is it worth the $89 just for the bump stop?

I say no, but that's my opinion. John V has to earn a living and I respect that.

I just use the factoy ones, but all this talk about them is making me want to get new RED ones to match my other Suspension equipiment.

Our main goal with our handling package is to offer improved handling while still maintaining a ride quality you can live with.

We feel it is the colaboration of all of the components we use that contibute to the forgiving ride.

The bump stops & rear bumpers play a big part. The Edelbrock Shocks tuned for the lowered vehicle also play a big part with the ride quality. The fact that we only lower the rear 1 3/8" also plays a part.

You can lower your X without these things. If you can live with the ride then it is up to you. It kind of depends on what you are used to and where you live etc. We are appealing to the masses with this package. We are appealing to Explorer owners that drive there vehicles dailey but have the "threat of rollover" blues. We appeal to drivers that want great handling and ride quality.

You only need the bump stops if you think you need them. Anyone that has the complete package will tell you they love it.
