Bumper Replacement: PLEASE Help!

My girlfriend dinged up her bumper on her 2002 XLT, so I ordered a brand new bumper for a surprise. She will be gone Saturday, October 30th, and by then the bumper will be here, so that will be my only chance . . . but i have NO IDEA how to take the old one off and install the new one!!! Is there anyone who can offer me some information on how to install a front bumper, or provide me with a source where I could possibly find this info? Thank you so much!

Get a Haynes Manual from the auto parts place-- about $15. If they let you, you could even just read how to do it while at the store and make sure you remember the torque specs for the bolts. On my '94 there are four bolts holding it on there-- no big deal-- I did need a helper to hold the bumper in place and line it up when I put it on though. before you take off the old one take note of the gap between the bumper and body so you can get it right when you reinstall. If it has fog lights, you might have to disconnect and reconnect the wires, install the lights on the new bumper, etc. Disconnect the battery and wait about 5 minutes before beginning work-- you're supposed to do this anytime you work on the front end so you won't trigger the airbags.
