After my last accident I ran without a bumper for near 6 months, I thought it looked kinda cool to be honest.... I ended up getting another bumper in case i hit something or someone hit me my tranny cooler lines wouldn't be screwed. But that's about it.

yeah the more I think about it, its a stupid idea.

first gens look good with no bumper/a low profile aftermarket bumper, but as already stated, it's dangerous and probably illegal. maybe for a trail truck but thats it

I am thinking about cutting the bumper down to the bolts on each side. Any thoughts on this idea?

I chopped mine off at an angle that came down to the bottom bolts. I don't mind how it looks. Just wanted a little better approach angle for my tires. Stole the idea from FROADER

i took my idea from froader too, except i opted for the square look.

I actually made a bumper that is similar to what you just described. It is no lower than the frame and past the outter edges of the frame its higher to help the approach angle.
