I got a '94 4door XLT 4.0 X and it has just under 100,x.. on it and im burning oil. Im currently using 10w 30 and its still buring about 1 quart per 1,000 miles. Would it help for me to switch to something like 10w 40 or try some additive. Help!!!:exp:

You might can slow it down by using a thicker oil like 10W40, but if it's burning a lot of oil, you'll need a rebuild soon. :(

You may try retorquing the intake manifolds. This has been done by several on the board and eliminated the lost oil.

Leakers get thicker oil, burners get thinner oil (comes down off the cylinder walls quicker).

intake bolts

Yes check the intake bolts Ill second that.

Try "lucas" oil additive they also make it for the differential, and trans. It's really good stuff you'll notice the engine running quieter, it's also known to stop leaks, and burn less oil.
