Bushing removal

I am busy putting on a complete energy suspension hyper-flex bushing set on my 93 ex... but there is a problem... the problem is that I'm too busy there has to be a tool or something that makes popping out these bushings easier.

Here is the picture of the sway bar endlink... and these bushings are particularly difficult to get out

this is where Im at in the project now

Any ideas of a tool that will help me pop out this bushings easily? Please dont suggest a hammer

Haven't taken off those bushings before but a good technique that works for me with pulling off bushings is spraying it with WD40 and spinning it a little bit before pulling to loose it from whatever piece you'll be pulling it off of. Then after getting it off clean off the WD40.

But i guess you could try something like spark plug pullers and get it at the bottom and just yank...OR since you aren't saving those bushings, i would just dremel it off.

yeah its frustrating, im thinking a ball joint tool would work well but thats 150 bucks... but i really need to get that tool anyway so i might as well stop putting it off

Burn it out with a torch, just get the rubber to start burning and sit back, it will fall out on its own. Takes about three minutes to do each one

Try Armor all to lube up the bushings, the petroleum base of the wd40 doesn't work as well as Armor All.

Yeah I am definitely going the burning route now... I talked to my friend who restored his k16 blazer and he said he burned his out

When you put your new bushings in, use some Armor All , it works great!

The master kit should have come with some special grease, use it, the bushings will squeak without. At least the new bushings are two piece, makes install a breeze.

When I replaced the bushings with the ES Hyper-Flex kit, for the end links all that was needed was a metal rod to pound out the metal center, and then a bigger rod to nudge out the bushing. Easiest part of the whole job, really. The end links that connect to the rear sway bar are slightly more difficult.

A tip on those end links: The kit has four bushings with ridged centers, these are for the rear sway bar connection to the end links. The ridges let you rip off the factory bushings and leave the rubber residue on there to hold the bushings. Don't clean up the rubber, just put the ridge center bushings on. If you don't do it this way, you have to hold the flat head of the bolt with vise grips..

What kind of grease is this? I just purchased some bushings, but I didn't get a master kit, so I don't have any "special grease".

I dont know what type it is, but its a lot thicker and stickier than regular lithium type grease.
I would think that just a regular Hi-temp grease would work as well.

The whole kit is in now and it made a huge difference in body sway... I highly recommend this product!
