I am installing a walled off sound system for 3 18's in my truck and need to purchase a hard bed cover or camper shell that is lockable to house all my batteries and amps. My question is do I have to get a new key made for the lock or how does that work? I never had a bed cover and I assume the truck key fits, but they wont be giving me the keys to their truck and I assume my key would not open it? So how do I go about getting a key made, or do they have a separate key to open the bed cover they will just give me when I purchase it? Thanks for the help, it seems like a simple question but I was not sure.
PS if you know any one selling one in Texas or surrounding states lemme know.

For mine, the door key is not the one that opens the cover, however i have heard of a lot of people taking the cover to a locksmith and getting it re-keyed to accept the door/ignition key. (Mine is an 05)

I would definitely sell you mine and my home away from college is in the houston area, but There's pieces drilled into the bed that I'm not sure would look good without it. Plus I drilled into a mounting piece with 4 holes to mount a cb antenna onto my bed. But I hate it sitting around because apparently it's a $1300 snugtop that I will never use, last owner put it on. It's color matched toreador red though. I'd probably get rid of it for around $500

But to answer your question, mine has a separate key for the cover.

And this is what it looks like. http://www.aoaizmo.com/assets/previews/TonneauCoversandBedCaps/P201312116131463.jpg

If it's an OEM cover, you can get it re-keyed to work with your truck keys.

I will keep that in mind I'm trying to fit the batteries in the cab but I may end up needing to put them in the bed so if I need a cap I will be sending you a pm. Thanks for the info on keys too everyone.
