Buying my first explorer .. looking for opinions

Hey everyone .. I am looking to get my first explorer. Looking at the 2007 or 2008, possibly the Eddie Bauer. I am looking for any and all info you guys can pass on. What should I be sure to get, what should I stay away from. I am looking at the V6, must have leather, 3rd row seating, and hopefully climate control. The rest is kinda up in the air. What do you guys think, help me pick my new ride.

I've got an 07 EBauer v6 4wd and love it. What do you want to do with your rig?

I have an 08 limited I bought used. I wouldnt count out the V8 if you are concerned with gas mileage. I think you'll see very similar numbers. I run an 89 tune from henson and get 22+ on the highway. not bad for a 300 horse V8.

they ride well and have a lot of room. we've had numerous explorers over the years and havent been disappointed. There are deals out there, so keep an eye out, prob a lot of 2 year lease vehicles floating around.

I had a '99 EB before my '06 Limited. The '99 was great, but the '06 is so much better! The engine has gobs of power and the 6sp trans is much better than the 4sp that was in the '99. The ride is much smoother in the '06, it's really a nice hiway cruiser. The V8's gas mileage isn't that much worse than the 6 cyl... My friends give me a bad time about the gas mileage, but my response is "I pay about $50 more per month and I'm driving what I want to drive... $50/mo for my happiness is cheap!" No way am I gonna drive some damn econobox just to save a few bucks on gas... Look for a 2 year old lease return... It'll be loaded with all the goodies and you'll enjoy it all that much more.

It will be my wifes DD for about a 40 min each way commute. It will also be the vehicle that we use for most things we do as a family, our other vehicle is a F150 Lariat. We have mountain bikes and do a bunch of trail riding. Nothing crazy though.

How about pricing ... I am Canadian, but shopping across the border due to your prices and our currently strong dollar. What should I expect to pay for an 07-08 Expy with the stuff I listed above, and I am not ruling out the V8.
