Hey all i've been having a little problem making up my mind. I recently found out that I have 3.27 gears in my truck (i thought I had 3.73's). I'm looking at getting a set of Pro Comp all terrains 31x10.5 since that have a O.D of 30.2 or the mud terrains with a 30.5 O.D. (i'm leaning towards the all terain). My questions is, should I leave the suspension bone stock, or would it look/be stupid to go ahead and put a f-150 spacer/aal. Honestly I would like to go ahead and lift it alittle since I think it would improve the overall stance of the truck as well as give it alittle more ground clearance. I would go ahead and put a true 31 on but I don't have the budget now to re-gear, and I want to have alittle power when all's said and done. Just curious at what you all think.

Thanks!

you want opinions, here ya go:

1) not all 1st gen can run 31s at stock height. they cal all run 30s it depends on if you got a friday truck or a tuesday truck.

2) many people do a big lift but dont use the full potential of what tires (ie with a 4" susp and 3" body, you could run 35s, but most would just go w/ 33s and deal with the gap).

3) you wont need to regear for the 31s, trust me i have 3.27 gears and 32s! just expect your pickup to be slow and mpg to drop some.

4) are you sure you are 3.27? there are 4 diff ratios you could be (3.08, 3.27, 3.55, 3.73) also, 2wd or 4wd?

5) lastly, i think 31s on a 2" lift would be fine. personally, i would consider 32s at that height....oh wait, i already have them!:p

**but, if you dont need tires asap and are considering more lift w/in the next year or so, WAIT! the last thing you want to do is have to try and sell fairly new ones for bigger.....find used ones. i have 3 sets of used tires for each height until i get where i want then i will get NEW ones (i have 30s for stock, 32s for 3" bl, and 33s for 3"bl+2"sl...then i will start looking at new ones)

Hey Thanks!
I'm pretty sure, unfortunatly that I have 3.27ls in my 4x4. I've looked up the axle code D1 and got underneath and looked at the ratio tag on the diff cover. I've got a manual transmission. So I think I would be alright with 31's. The Pro-comp tires are actually 30.2" so I deffintly think they would be alright. I didn't even think how people run more lift than necessary to clear 33's like you said. I think i'm going to go ahead and do it...wtf. Only major reason I was/am concerned about the gears is that I do like to go off-road from time to time. What have been your impressions when you take your's off-road? I really appreciate all the help and opinions!

Thanks!

well, its only been offroad once, if you can call it that....sand dunes. it did pretty well. its a little slow on the go but the KKM and splitfire wires really help it. i do have alot of problems with my clutch...sounds like a grind sometimes because i dont give it enough gas...but then again, i'm really not that good at driving a stick. believe it or not, i'm still somewhat faster than most cars i see, even with the 32s...and i can still light 'em up and chirp in 2nd.

the biggest power loss you will notice with the bigger tires is on the highway. i say go for it.
