Anything I should look for...as for as Explorer general problems that I have to worry about? Yes I do know cars but curious if there are specific "Explorer" problems that I should watch for.

the blend door seems to be a frequent problem around here, it has something to do with the heater/ac controls but i dont know much about it.....some say(me included) that he door seals do not seal air from coming in, and it gets quite noisy while driving at highway speeds, sagging rear ends which is an easy fix, for older 1st generation explorers with the manual hubs, some have problems engaging, just look around im sure you'll find what you need in a vehicle

Opps sorry. Just to be more specific....99-00 V8 is what i'm looking at.

ok just disregard that last statement about the manual hubs

Transmission!!!!!!! Especially '91-'94. Leaking, slipping when cold, shifting problems, etc. I failed to detect problems when i bought mine, everything else was so nice i was kind of blinded!

Compression test. This will tell ALOT. Testers can be bought at any autoparts store for 25-50 bucks. worth every penny.

And DRIVE it. Drive it hard. accellerate hard, stop hard. Make it shift hard. That will tell you alot about it too.

Also, if you get it cheap enough, the project X may be worth your while!
