I recently started hearing a weird buzz noise coming from under my dash. I only notice it when my turn signal is on. Anybody know what could cause that?

I tried searching but the search feature won't work on my phone for some reason

Thanks guys

Thats kind of a weird problem. Only thing im thinking would be the turn signal relay. Im not even sure if thats under the dash. I think it is.

Are you positive that it isn't the turn signal lever (aka MFS - multi function switch)? That is one of the common failure modes for the MFS - a buzzing when you signal a turn. Usually, it will be only one side, but not the other.

I believe thats the problem. I thought it was coming from under the dash but after I read your post I thought hmm. My MFS is bad the washer sprayer doesn't work. When you said it would only be one side it was a double hmm. I listened closer and I think now it is coming from the column. What actually causes it to buzz?

I think its actually a bad connection that causes it to buzz. Some people have reported seeing smoke after it buzzes for awhile.

Some people have taken it apart and cleaned the contacts and reported success, but I think its better just to replace it at that point. I paid about $43 several years ago for the OEM part thru fastpartsnetwork.com, others have bought aftermarket versions for about $10 less.

BTW, your washer problem is another symptom of a bad MFS.

wow now that I hear about the smoke I better replace it. I was gonna put it off longer lol

Just wanted to say thanks for the help guys. I replaced the MFS on Tuesday. No more buzz and my sprayers work. I'm so happy I can clean my windshield now lol.
