I read a lot about Ford going to extra lengths to keep the noise down inside the cabin of the Sport Trac.

I have an 07 Limited that I just picked up last week and notice considerable wind noise in the cabin. It sounds like it may be coming from the rear ... maybe the right rear door or rear seat area. I checked the door seal and it all looks good.

I searched the forum, but did not see any mention of any issues like this, so thought I would check and see if anyone else has any ideas of what could be causing it.

Thanks!

start covering body seams with masking tape until it goes away and you will find it.

Never thought of that before, but seems like a brilliant suggestion. Thanks!

You can sometimes use the same method to find water leaks. If you think you have a water leak and it is around a window, one of the easiest ways to locate it is to spray soapy water around the outer perimeter of the window and blow compressed air around the inner perimeter. Bubbles will show where the leak is. I have seen guys close the doors and use the heater fan on high to show leaks using the soapy water method as well. Seems to work fine.

I have found that the noise is coming from each rear corner where there are large openings. There is some sort of plastic filled muffin about the size of a football stuck in the opening, although it does not seal it... not sure what its purpose would be, other than just be stuffing. I have not studied it super close yet, but maybe this is some sort of vent? I am wondering if it would hurt to completely cover it with Dynapad or similar?

Weird... my 05 does not have the noise.
