I've searched the forums for CAI's and found a good number of threads, but couldn't find a thread about products for the 4.6L that A LOT of us have. Is there one out there besides K&N? This is almost depressing. It seems every company that manufactures CAIs has one for the 4.0L V6's, but not for the V8's. Don't they realize that us V8 owners might be concerned with power too? I mean, there is a reason I chose the V8 over the V6 after all....:rolleyes:

For your year the only options are the K&N or fab up your own and carefully cut the MAF out of the stock setup.

For 02-03 owners there's DIY, K&N, and MAC. For 04-05 it's a slightly more complicated DIY, or K&N.

Boo.... :thumbdwn::thumbdwn:

^ come up with anything?

i have a 04 also.

Nope, looks like it's K&N only. From what I've heard they're one of the better quality ones, but they're also pretty expensive...

you get what you pay for fella...

for the money i put out for my K&N, i feel that it was worth it...

1. MPG gain was noticed, so any help there is good...

2. Power gains...

3. Pure Amusement !

its always fun when you romp on the throttle here WHOOOSH ! and the whistle noise !!!!

Waste of money IMO.....all the dynos i've looked at only showed 5hp gains typically....(which is surprisingly the exact allowable margin of error that many dynos have....meaning they arent accurate down to the very last number....and a CAI's gain or loss would be too small to see on most dyno's.)

All it does is make noise, and look cool, and give you a more sensitive throttle, but doesn't actually net any real HP gains in most cars.

The only way it will actually give you some power is if your vehicles intake/filter are already trashed and dirty. Or if the aftermarket design is actually an improvement over the stock one, meaning better/smoother airflow path.
But it's a waste of money on most cars.

You're better off making your own intake.

Save the $200-300 or whatever it costs.

Id just try n find some intercooler piping that is close to the lengths n angle bends u need n then chop em down to fit just right for ya throw some couplers n a Universal maf sensor housing in and filter of ur liking. Prolly looking at like 80 ish bucks said n done .

I'd love some more throttle response, and any gains in MPGs is appreciated. A good intake is a good place to start, now you just need a new plenum and a new exhaust.

For the extra 130$ id get the K&N and a trickflow upper plenum.

Cheapest mod to get better throttle response is to hinge the pedal - do a search; it's one of the first mods I did, and well worth the cost.

hinge the peddle? a k&n cai + magnaflow was my first mod, gives the truck a great sound and to be honest im totaly happy with the way the K&N works out, i paid 135 for it on ebay....worth every penny.

^ must have got the intake used right?

nope, new and in box for 135.

i see them for 250$ now. how long ago did you get it? got the sellers name(if it was a company) ?

thanks

i got mine + magnaflow exhaust a little over a year and a half ago...i couldnt even begin to find the name of the guy i bought it from...wish i could help more...just keep looking guys...OH mines an 03 btw, so the 04-05 kit probably costs more.

JAKEDREW...

no pics of my intake... sorry bud... im sure someone has a pic or just look it up some where online ???

Just picked up a K&N for my 02 v8 for $150 new in the box off ebay. Should be in tomorrow and I will post the results and some pictures.

I made my own. I did it way cheaper than the K&N set up!
