Calgary area Explorers

Well.. since it's a little late to change plans.. and after speaking with a couple different people, in my opinion, I think that Chinook Centre will be ok for tomorrow! Paul, maybe we can plan another get together next weekend or something, before you move! If anyone has a question or comment, please post a message or e-mail me at pskingle@home.com

Thanks, and sorry for any inconvenience this may of caused!

Regards,

Peter

Explorin' Calgary

That'd be interesting if we actually got a crowd of Explorers gathered down there. Be nice to see some more Explorers that actually go off-road once in a while. :=)

MacLean Creek cleanup day

For those interested, the MacLean creek cleanup day will be Sunday June 9th

Well, there seems to be a discrepency between the e-mail I received which said June 9th, and the www.aurs.org website which says June 3rd. Am awaiting clarification.

Anyway, if you want to go and are not sure how to get out there, we could meet as Weshills 9am and go out from there to meet with everyone else at 10am out at the MacLean creek store.

Cleanup Day

Yes, MacLean Creek cleanup is Sunday, June 9th.

Sorry Barry, i wish i could make it, but i work on weekends from 10am-8pm. :(

Umm... cough... BUMP! LOL

Hey, guys.

I guess I am digging up a way-old thread here, hmm? Well, I just discovered it existed! I would be interested in meeting up with this whole crew next time you all get together!

I just got my Explorer about a month ago, and already I'm lovin' it more than the Acura Legend I got rid of to buy it! Here's a pic of my new baby, just so you all can wave when you see me on the road :)

Excellent!
Nice ride man. Next time you see "PLRBEAR" on the road....gimme a honk or wave! LOL!
There are just so many Explorers in Calgary, but only about 6 of us in here.....sigh.
BTW, checked out the pics yet?

Hmmm....and in a city with such high internet usage, at that! I guess the 5 (or is it 6, now?) of us need to get some stickers, or something!

I did check out the pics, and now I'm sour that I missed that get-together. I'm going to miss the McLean creek one, too...gotta work.

Later,

That's ok....i'll be missing the Maclean Creek one too since i also have to work. BTW, i see that you're thinking of getting a GPS unit......i've found a good place to buy online.

and we don't have to pay shipping since the warehouse is in Calgary!! :-)

GPS City Canada

I was looking into the Alpine PowerNAV DVD-based system, because I like the large color display, and the fact that it calculates best-routes based on your location. Only problem is...they don't make map DVDs for Canada yet.

Really, I have lived here all my life, and I know the city pretty darn well, so the GPS will probably never really happen...I simply don't NEED one. Then again...when did NEED become a factor?
:D

Hmmmmm....well....i'm gonna get the Garmin Etrex GPS unit that'll hook up to my laptop. Then i'm going to get either MS Streets and Trips or an independent mapping software that will give me directions, tell me where i am on the map, and re-route if i miss the turn. All this is much cheaper than getting the AutoPC or whatever vehicle based navigation system is out there.
I suppose i have more reason to get it since i'm helping out the scout troop here in Calgary. Hehe....they plan all the hiking routes with vehicle access, and i get all the fun! :-)
