Hey, I posted this same thread in Modified Explorations, but no one responded. I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on painting my calipers. i was jsut wondering what color do you guys think would look the best on my car too. Its navy blue metallic. Im trying to decide between red, yellow, or a bright blue. If you want, check out my car on my web site and lemme know which looks best... Thanks a lot.

i dont think the light blue will look good. i would go with either the red or yellow.

Definately yellow

I would paint them black. I think a color would break up the cleanliness of your truck. I painted mine red and I'm gonna repaint them black soon.

Off topic...

Hey Gordonma, you wanna go to the All Ford Nationals?

Hey 98FordX24,
Ford Nationals sounds great. I been reading about it on the boards. If you could give me some info I'd really appreciate it and when it is. Thanks a lot man.

Alright I think I will probably be able to make it. Gotta check my funds and see if I can make the commute. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for the invite

yeah, i'm going to do this when i switch to the saleen wheels (since my brakes will be even more visible)

i'm thinking either silver or black.

gordonma--your truck looks sweet, man.

I would go with red for the calipers. Yellow seems like it would show brake dust more and look dirty if you don't wash them all the time. Either color should look good though. Don't do light blue, just wouldn't look right.

later,
Mike

so you guys prefer a body colored caliper over a more flashy one? i have a black xlt, and i was gonna paint my calipers red, along with painting my EE rear sway bar red.

I'm doing silver it looks clean and kinda like the nice Mercedes Benz calipers or like Vette ones.

I dont completely understand why, but I read that certain colors are no good. Some don't let heat escape and others do. I painted mine silver and the fronts were fine but the rears got so hot it burned the grease off the slide pins and they started hanging up. I had to have the paint blasted off. :(

on most high temp paint ive used (VHT), you only use one thin coat. you spray just enough to completely "color" the part. if you did several coats like traditional rattle canning, that may have trapped heat in the caliper. but, i still dont see how.

for my 2 cents red would look cool. what sort of paint do you use ? can ya get it in a spray pak?

The G2 kit is what I used on mine. It says only apply one coat to keep from burning up the calipers, but I really don't see how....

Here is a link to them:

G2 Caliper Paint Kits

That was the cheapest place I could find it, and they gave really good service and shipping.

Gordonma - really clean good looking X ! I personally would paint them either a gray or silver to match your ride, but red, yellow, or white would stand out and look good...

now what does that kit do, that a normal can of 1500degree high temp paint cant do?
