- '00 5.0 in an '82 Volvo
I am the point of starting a '00 Explorer 302 in an old Volvo. This engine came from dry storage, has 11k miles on it and has not rotated in 11+ years. I was planning on driving the oil pump with a drill motor for a while before attempting to start it. Since cars do not have distributors anymore and I have no experience with camshaft position sensors I looked it up in the big Ford manual. The only reinstall instructions is to use an alignment tool (Syncro Positioning Tool T96T-12200-A / 303-630) when reinstalling.
Found those on the net from $23 to $90.
Any suggestions on getting the shaft/sensor back in correctly without the tool or an alternative to buying the tool? I suspect that Advance AP is not going to have it in their tool rental program.
With all the many possibilities as to why this thing is not going to start I don't want to create one more.
