I would take a picture but its dark out. Can't seem to find the right relevant information either even though its probably out there. I will try to explain it as best I can and maybe someone will know what I'm talking about.

For reference its a 98 5.0 Explorer.

I fired up the ol' ex this evening only to hear a pop and a hiss from under the hood. Immediately I thought vacuum line. Easy fix more than likely and I was right. It idled really rough on first start up almost stalling and after running it down the road a few miles it would idle at around 1500-2000rpms. I dug around under the hood and found the culprit. A hose popped off and I stuck it back on. Voilà! Good as new again.

My question is this, what the hell is it? It is located just under the front right corner of the intake manifold while standing facing the engine from the front. It has a rubber °90 that slips on to a metal pipe about a quarter inch in diameter and has two VERY small hoses(lines of some sort) coming out of the top of this rubber °90 with plastic heat shielding covering it's entire length. One line goes to the passenger side somewhere and one goes to the drivers side down under the battery tray.

Without a picture can anyone ID these lines?
