Can I get list of options with VIN

I'm looking at a 03 XLT Explorer. Is there a way on the internet to get a list of options from the vin number? I know I can go to the dealership and they can run it out for me but I'm trying to gain as much info as I can before I possibly negotiate for it.

The VIN is limited to telling you only the following:

1. World Manufacturer Identifier
2. Brake type and gross vehicle weight
3. Vehicle line, series, body type
4. Engine type
5. Model year
6. Assembly plant
7. Production sequence number

Thanks imp! That's what I thought but figured I'd check anyway.

I called Ford Customer Care and they sent me a letter with a breakdown of what the Vin number stood for and the options

You might try asking a Ford dealer to give you an Oasis report. It lists all your options when it was built.

I got an oasis report for my pickup but didn't want to go to ford unless I bought the explorer.

you can run the vin here http://www.compnine.com/vid.php , it will tell you everything, as long as its on file which most are.
