can i go from automatic to manual tranny...?

Hey...i'm on my 4th A4ld auto tranny and i'm sick of it and miss the 5 speed. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to simply put in the 5 speed transmission which came behind the 4L. I know i need to do the whole 3rd pedal and all that stuff, but whether my crank in the motor has that hole in the back to accept the proper shaft and bearing and bushing. Hope someone has done it before, thanks

I did it. You might do a search in the projects forum. It was pretty straight forward. I really like my manual. Just make sure you get all the parts. I think I made a list of needed parts on that thread.
