Can I replace my oil pump without removing the engine?

[Theoretically]

I have a 2005 explorer 4.0l SOHC V6 2 wheel drive. Can I replace the oil pump without removing the engine?

Yes, and its going to be messy, get yourself a good oil catch tray or drain pan, good jack and jack stands. Since its 2 wheel drive you'll have a crossmember near the pan, just not a diff.
