can i swap a 5r55s from 2005 into a 2003?

the wreckers say it only works from 2002 to 2003 and 2004 to 2005,does anyone know what the differences are?
I have a 2003 explorer with v6 and the 5r55s trans,i found a 2005 explorer with v6 and 20,000 on it,i was wondering how hard it would be to make it work in my 2003. thank

i had mine rebuilt so, i'm not 100%. But if you can check the door codes and they are the same, check the harness connections (that would be my biggest worry), it they all match, i can only guess, but i would think your golden and it would work. There might also be numbers on the trans you could maybe match up too. One thing that might be significant is if its 5r55w and you said you have 5r55s. switching from a 's' to a 'w' would require reprogramming, . . .
