Can I take a headunit out of a newer Explorer that has a dash loaded cd player? Its alot easier and I like the looks of it. What would I have to do with the cd cartridge in the armrest thing? Could I leave it and would it all work together and .........AHHHHHHH

That's the exact same thing I asked a while ago but nobody replied my post so I guess nobody knows. If somebody happens to know this, please tell us. Thanks.

I need a little more information before I can answer your question. Here's what I need to know.

1.) Is the "cartridge in the armrest thingy" a CD changer, and are your trying to put that in the old or new explorer?

2.) What size are the head units? Single DIN or dual DIN?

3.) Are you mixing a new changer with an old head unit?

Yeah the cartridge thing is the cd changer, its a double DIN, and I just want to take the headunit out of my 95 and put one from like a 98, one where you load cd's in the dash. I wanna leave the cd changer there and put the headunit from a newer one in, maybe the same year if I can. I dunno

Well, you CAN put the head unit in. You might need a diffrent reverse harness for the wire though. I don't honestly know if the changer will work. Depends on how they wired it. If your head unit supports it, it SHOULD work provided you wire it correctly.

Sorry, cant help ya that much.

Check http://www.radiosandmore.com for more info but here is what I know. If you have a head unit with cd changer controls on it then the changer will work, provided you have the right wiring harness. I am not sure about this but I think most of the newer head units (98,99) either can have a single disk in the dash or the changer. If you are looking for a dash mounted loader radios has a six disk that will fit in the dash.
