i was told the explorer rear hatch/door is universal, and they all pretty much bolt right on, is this true? because id love to switch from my 95, to the 2002 and on style, is this possible?

Nope. You can only run a 2001 or older door. To run a 98-01 door you'll need to change out some parts.

so it aint worth it? im probably gonna spend more on the swap then what ill get out of it, right?

Probably. It depends on what you want to get out of it.

Dont forget different taillights and rear bumper as well.

'95 can use:

'97 rear hatch (or hatch glass), same hatch, charcoal tint vs. gold on your '95. Will need to swap the rear door glass and rear 1/4 glass to charcoal to match.

'98-01 rear hatch. Need to get a '98-01 4 door rear bumper, rear door glass, rear 1/4 glass, and taillights.

'02 and on will not work.
