Yes it will.

Also one more thing...If I were to buy a white instrument cluster from an Explorer and put it in my Mountaineer, is there a way to put the mileage that I have on my Mounty back on the new cluster?

I Need Help!

ok, I asked this question earlier on here but I have another question. I drive a 98' Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L V8. I want to buy the white gauges for it from the Explorer. I'm assuming they don't just sell the gauges so I have to buy the whole instrument cluster right?

Well I found this on ebay and was wondering if someone could tell me if this will fit my vehicle?

Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=190019163372&ih=009&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT

This cluster has 71K miles on it. My main concern is, if this will work on my vehicle is there a way to change the mileage that's on the new cluster to the mileage that's on my Mounty now? I want to be able to keep the actual mileage on my vehicle. If not then would I be better off buying different gauges and not the whold instrument cluster?

Maybe someone can show me what I need?

you can use this cluster which is for the sport edition explorer, but you can also install the white face to your cluster.

the page cannot be found when I click on it.

So your saying buy the cluster then remove the white gauges from it and put them on my cluster? Won't the warning lights and other stuff be different?

try again.

i correct it

i'm saying that you can just get the cluster from ebay, disconnect your cluster and connect the new cluster or you can find the white face and install them to your existing cluster after reading the threat that i post.

what about the mileage though? If I got the new cluster with different miles on it then my stock cluster is there a way to change that mileage?

about the miles is better to use your own cluster instead of change the whole cluster because some guys they try to change the miles and it messed up the odometer.

or you can try and find cluster from a 2001 ford explorer sport or 2001 ford explorer sport truck close to your milage

ok because that what I was wondering. Does my vehicle store the mileage in it's computer so it would convert the new cluster back to it's original mileage once I plug it in?

no your computer it can`t convert from analog to digital so it can`t store your mileage, but if you change the miles and somebody find out from papers or carfax that you change the miles you going to be in troubles.

alright well thanks for your help! I think my best bet would to just buy the gauges and put them on my cluster because it would be to hard to find the cluster that I want that's close to the same mileage as mine.

I've installed gauges before on my old s-10 so it shouldn't be a problem. I just found this 98' Mercury Mountaineer like mine on CarDomain.com and he has the exact same gauge cluster that I want. Here's his...

Look at his gauges..that's what I wanted to do.

all the cluster are the same from 95-01 explorer and mountaineers.

all the cluster have the 4x4 option even the awd and 2wd cars so your only consern is the miles.

Are you sure? My friend has a 96' Explorer and I have a 98' Mountaineer and are warning lights are different.
