Would this cause a "drive on then no drive (pulsing on /off) effect at gentle throttle,
seems fine when the trucks rolling or if I give it a bootfull ,
but I get a delay starting off with a reasonble amount of pedal (a hill start say),
my Vss is on the transfer case ( 4405 )
I had this delay problem before I changed the transmission and torque converter .... I put the previous transfer case back on which seeming works fine ?
I have no flashing o/d light....... guess I should change the Vss?
any advise appreciated

What you've described sounds like what others have posted about when their 4wd is engaging prematurely. So yeah it might be the sensor on the transfer case. One way to diagnose the problem is to disconnect the transfer case's electrical connector(s). If the surging you've described goes away with the connectors off, then yes it is probably a sensor on the transfer case (ignore the blinking 4HI/4LO light, due to the disconnected transfer case).

You the man IZ,
I shall give that a go
Thanks

Other things to check would be the fuel pressure, fuel filter, and flushing the injectors.

Motor seems smooth and strong ,I put cleaner in regulary but will check this after ...
Im sure its drive train issues i,ve changed most of it - barr the transfer case
I have a low milage one from a 99 sadly its missing the vss sensor
Thanks again guys
