Cannot believe this!!!!!

Town East Ford here in Dallas screwed me over.

They had an Explorer Sport on their lot that I wanted to test drive. I called them on a Tuesday to schedule a Test Drive on Saturday.

They said they'd call Saturday to confirm the time to arrive at the dealer. Didn't hear, so I called them around Noon on Saturday. Turns out they sold the car, didn't want to tell me. Were scrambling to find another in the DFW area to get on their lot that day....

Well, that same day I drove up North to Plano at Sam Pack's and bought one.

Now Town East keeps calling me 2 months later leaving messages asking if I am still interested.

The dumbasses missed out on a car sale.

Wow. I can't believe the entitlement in this thread. Steve....they sold the car to a real buyer before you could get there to do your test drive, so you missed out on the sale, not them. Business is business.

Sorry my friend, but your little tirade here is absolutely laughable. THEY SOLD THE VEHICLE!!! Do you honestly expect them to hold onto a vehicle for someone to test drive a few days later when they have someone willing to buy it in the spot???? Sure it would have been more appropriate for them to advise you right away that they sold it and that they would try hard to get another one in time for you to test drive it on the Saturday, but give your head a shake man....they are in the business of selling vehicles, not holding on to them for someone to simply test drive and perhaps not even purchase afterwards.....They didn't screw you over, you screwed yourself over with your attitude and sense of entitlement.....

No need to get personal. Live and learn - this is the way selling cars works. The way selling anything works, really.

So yes - scheduling a test drive does not mean much more than an appointment to drive a car. It is not a reservaton for a sale. Could be. They want to sell it and you want to buy it so everyone is on the same page. There is nothing underhanded or shady going on.

But if they get a buyer - out the door it goes. That isnt 'screwing you'. Thats business. They can get another one for you and will be quite happy to do so.

If you are in a hurry and need to drive home with one that day or something - go somewhere els if they no longer have one on the lot - but getting righeously indignant over this little chain of events is misguided - and might make you look silly in their eyes because your expectations are unreasonable. If you feel like next time you want to handle it better say "Your not going to sell it before I get there next week are you?" their response will be "Maybe they are in demand right now, hopefully it will still be here for you to drive. You can come down as soon as you like to test it..right now if you like. If it gets sold we can find/get another one. If you want to put a deposit on it, we can hold it for you."

The assumption that they are swindling or cheating you is wrong.
