Cannot Get 96 Sport to Pass emmisions- o2 sensor question

Im trying to pass emissions on my 96 sport. I failed the first time I took the test and the diagnostic said that the oxygen sensor in bank 2 sensor 1 was faulty. I replaced what I thought was the oxygen sensor that was on the passenger side closest to the front of the car. Well after about 80 miles or so the check engine light came back on... so obviously I did not replace the correct oxygen sensor which was brand new. Does anyone know what oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1 would be?

first off a faulty 02 sensor will send a code stating their is a circuit problem or sensor out of range problem.

Bank 2 is the drivers side I believe, cylinders 4-6
So try swapping your 02 sensor from the pass side to the drivers side

BUT you should post the actual diagnostics code, because a 02 sensor code sometimes will actually tell you what the problem is, for example bank 2 sensor 1 is reading lean = not a bad 02 sensor, but the sensor is actually working and telling you there is a lean condition, this is why we always want to see the actual code (IE p0174)

Why not just replace all three sensors at the same time?

and then you might still fail inspection because the actual 02 sensor code was pointing to an intake leak LOL

Never throw parts at a problem , find the source of the problem
Doesnt always work out that way! LOL

Also the front two 02 sensors are the main or upstream sensors, the after cat (downstream) sensor is simply a catalyst monitor, and rarely needs to be replaced IMO, when I replace the downstream sensors I usually use an old upsteam sensor....
