if the key doesnt work, or if you cant find it, call triple a and they will get into the car and if you need them to, they can jump it too, just an option

i'm aware of that but considering i have no drivers license and the logistics are difficult i wanted to know if the key is supposed to work with a dead battery.i'm interested in the mechanical aspect as well.but thanks for the suggestion..

the key should work, even if you have a dead battery, the only way it wouldn't work would be if you have one key for the ignition and one for the doors..but the key should work

triple a to save the day

i'm not driving but i'm responsible for the car.

If you can get a jumper cable on the hot wire on the starter and the negative on a ground.... ReaL DANGEROUS. But you could get a charge.

I was about to say...he cant get into the hood, cus I thought you were talkin about the solenoid.

How would that charge it though? That would just make it turn over wouldnt it?

Triple a can unlock it though :p

Call a local Ford dealership.
They can make the actual key from the V.I.N. number.

Good Luck
Rick

I still have a mark on my hand from years ago, trying to change a starter without disconnecting the battery. There's a hot one down there. I'm replying to this as a mechanical riddle rather than giving good advice. LOL. If the battery died from leaving the headlights on then he may be able to trickle charge it through the trailer wiring.

The key is probably not the problem.... The lock cylender is most likely the cause. The cylenders that are used frequently jam up if not used. ie keyless entry. Try spraying a penatrating lubricant such as BP blaster or even good old WD-40 into the lock. Then with the key work it back and forth, in and out. You should be able to free it up... There is no electrical connections that wuold cause the reported complaint...

With keyless entry nowadays very few people open the door using the key. I had a similar problem with the passenger door and a new key. At first it would not work and thought it had seized due to little to no use. After spraying lubricant inside and letting it sit for awhile it opened. It should be mechanical and eletronics should not come into play. Good Luck

Scott
