Can't Open the Drivers Door

My drivers side door lock as bee flaky lately. Up until now I have been able to reach in and use the interior handle to open it. This week after closing the door The interior handle has not retracted all the way, and is out about half way between the normal position and the full out position when opening the door. I need to open the door, and take off the door panel, so I can look for the problem. I have tried pulling up the lock button while attempting to open the door with both the exterior and interior handles with no success.

Any Ideas to get the door open?

I have been having the same issue with my 2001 Explorer XLT. Sometimes the lock will popup fully with the key fob. I can't unlock it with the key either so I have to reach in from the back driverside door. My guess the mechanism is sticky and needs to be sprayed with a lubricant. As for getting the door open otherwise in your situation, I haven't a clue.
