Hey, was wanting to get 2" lowering springs on the front, and 2-3" lowering blocks on the rear of my ford explorer 2wd. I have 20" rims on it currently. Was wondering where a good place to get these is? i've looked online and can't find exactly these for my truck, only universal applications.

also another question, if anyone knows or not.. but i wanted to get a cowl induction hood for my explorer, and well i've looked all over and can't find one.. see plenty for the rangers but none for explorer. But a friend told me that the ranger hood would fit anyone know? also said the front bumpers of the ranger would fit?

i'm extremely car dumb i know what i like looks wise but kinda hard when it comes to installation and what not heh. SO any help would be MUCH appreciated.

Lowering your explorer???

The only thing that i could suggest for the front is to have your springs cut. A word of warning though that anything beyond 2" is gunna screw your alignment beyond what the correction bushings can handle. As for the rear suspension autozone sells the rear blocks.

Lower? Oh well it would be a cool look. Just BE CAREFUL about rubbin those biggens on the frame or fenders my man! Good luck on the mods! And don't forget to show us pics! I also have had no luck finding a cool new hood. Must find a ranger to measure to see If hood will fit.

awesome, thanks for the help everyone. found the cowl hood i wanted. Another question, am i correct on the ranger /explorer front bumper is the same?

lots of plans for this truck, i can't wait. ANd pictures are coming soon.

Just beware when lowering the front on a first gen. Explorer. They use a unique suspension design and if you just cut the springs you will have some serious negative camber. You front tires will look like this /--\ Which will in turn lead to poor handling and tire wear. You need to look for an entire lowering kit, not just springs.

yeah i was under the impression, i recieved from my friend, that i could just get this springs that would lower it 2" , maybe he didnt' know what he was talking about, or i misunderstood him. but i think i may just get the full kit, or see if any local shops can get ahold to the kits for a descent price. and again thanks for the help ya'll.

just remember if you buy from a shop or dealer. The factory has to make money the factory retailer has to make money and the dealer/shop has to make money and thats three markups you don't want to pay

the bumper from an 88 (or 89)-92 ranger will fit your truck as well as the headlights, grill, and (i believe) hood.

autozone has the universal rear drop blocks they also have adjustable shackles (2" drop/stock height/2" lift) for $13.

Those are actually lift shackles. And they only give you about an inch or so of lift.

I've got em on my truck they gave right at 2" maybe just a tiny bit more or less, but they are used for lowering too. they have three sets of holes you can bolt your leaf spring to the middle hole measures the almost the exact same as stock and the one above it is right at 2" lower than stock, the one below is right at 2" longer than stock.

Of course none of the three are exact but they're really close.
If you look closely on the left side you can see the "stock" hole above the spring and the "drop" hole above that.

so are those better than the war153's?
they don't look as sturdy.

i don't know how they rank up compared to the warriors, the warriors have a center piece welded in to make it stronger & these do not, but they are a LOT cheaper and they're stronger than stock.

there are several people on here who have had them on their trucks for a LONG time and never had a problem out of them.

If you plan on doing a lot of rock crawling or serious offroading then you should get the warrior shackles - otherwise a cheap, good alternative.

Yea I know which ones you are talking about beacuse I also have them on my truck and I only got about an inch or so of lift.

X2 the warriors are alot stronger and dont make the rear end sway as much because of the center link.

That's weird...could it be because of leaf sag? I put em on my truck and bam i mean its within a hundredths of an inch of being 2 inches (like i said maybe a tiny bit over).

Brand new 4in lift leaf springs installed at the same time.
