I have a 97 Explorer sport. I lost my key less entry. I got in using my regular key, however I can not start the vehicle. Is there anyway to disable the power locks to be able to start the car? PLEASE help!!!!

Thanks for that thread. this had all started with my driver door not unlocking. But now my problem is I have no keyless remote. The car will not start without it. Can I disable it and get my engine to start?

I do not know if this helps but I just went out and armed the alarm on my X. Then I used the key only to unlock the door, turned the key and started the X no problem. Maybe the alarm system needs a power reset or the ignition switch related electrical connection is failing.
Are you sure this is not a starter circuit problem?

My vehicle after it shuts down and you go out the driver door. You can't start the car without clicking unlock on the remote. I lost my remote. Is this unlock/start feature common in these explorers?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery?
No I haven't. Would that reset this perhaps?

Why are you so sure this is alarm related? I just did the key only entry and start without a hitch. I assume your alarm light is going off?

YES!!!!! It started after disconnecting/reconnecting the Battery...

I don't have a car alarm for my car. Ok.... My problem started at first i couldn't unlock my rear door. Noticed the power locks continue to cycle a couple times when unlocking with remote. Then the problem moved to driver door. It wouldn't unlock with remote. I couldn't even turn it with the key which was odd. The passenger door unlocked though. So I decided to just crawl out the passenger side as it looks as i am not the only one.... LOL... I tried prying the door openby jiggling the driver door handle inside with some force. It finally opened. Now I have no play on my driver door handle. It will open and close until I drive somewhere and it sticks again.... Through this forum I found out that spring people were talking about was broke. I was told that the driver door actuator controls all doors by a co-worker... Is that true? Would that be the problem in the rear door too? But as for the starting thing. Since I had it, I cannot start the vehicle without clicking the unlock on my remote. Even if you press unlock on the door, it doesn't matter.... It has to be from the remote. But now I lost the remote. So it looks like I have to replace that spring on the drive door, plus program a new remote. Thanks for all the help. But is that unlock to start feature common?
