Just wondering if there was a matching carburated engine out there for the 4.0L. My explorer is getting used for a 47 ford cab and was wondering if there was an intake manifold I could slap on there with a carb on top and ditch a lot of the wiring. I have done this with a 5.0L just didn't know what intake to look for on the 4.0L.

Found it here.

I have wondered, a time or two, if any other "Cologne" series intake would fit the 4.0.

It seems like the 4.0 would have more deck height. If so, I'd then wonder if spacers (intake to heads) would make it work. Curiosity, pure curiosity.

History of the Cologne series engines here:

Thanks for the links, One site listed it for $500. Since I'm not really sure how long this engine will last, It has 283k km on it with a check engine light on. I might just put that $500 towards a 302. :)
