Does anyone know how to 'rewind' the cargo shade, so that it will spring back? It seems to have lost it's...recoil.

Thanks!

ive got the same problem!

How long has yours been hosed? I was thinking about taking and end apart, and see if I could reset the spring or something...

coiled

You might try rolling it back up all the way by hand...mine seems to have a "catch" just like a window shade, so sometimes if just snapping it back doesn't do the trick to get it wound up, I have to roll it back up manually, then it will pull back. You might have to take it apart if nothing works though...perhaps the catch in yours is binding up or something? You could always just take it out and whap it on the ground a few times and see if that helps...

I always have to roll it up by hand and it doesnt keep tension very well when i have it in use. (the cover will start to sag in the middle)

There's instructions in the owners manual, if you can do it I think you will be the first. I actually took mine back to the dealer and asked them to do it, they suggested buying a new one.

owners manual? Heh thats one of those things that the dealer failed to give me:thumbdwn: I THINK there is a .pdf form of the manual somewhere on www.ownerconnection.com so I guess its time for me to go find it again. (Unless someone wants to retype the procedure for me)

hey, if someone has the solution to this problem, s/he can be announced as "the king of sheet repair". i tried fixing it with the manual instructions, ended up with NO recoil.

Both of mine have that same problem. Currently they both sit in the Garage along the wall cause they get in the way far to often when I am hauling stuff around.

Well I took the ends off of mine and tried to reroll it a few months ago. It works better but not as good as new. Since you guys brought it up I figured I would take another whack at it.

BTW, taking it apart is easy. I just drilled out the rivets and the end caps came off easily. I replaced the rivets with screws that I had laying around

...it just shouldn't be this difficult!!!:banghead:
