Explorer '07 Eddie Bauer
Good day. Just wanted to ask what is the stock exhaust set up of the '05 Explorer Eddie Bauer? Does it have 2 or 4 catalytic converters? I'm planning to get rid or put high flowing catalytic converters on my explorer but not sure how many catalytic converter i have. After installing a cherry bomb cat back I still wanted more.

My plans include headers from Gibson exhaust. In a couple of days i will be getting cold air intake and soon after the intake i will move on to my catalytic converter.

Are there any recommendation on what catalytic to use? I have been hearing good things about the Magnaflow Catalytic converters are they good?

On my F150 V6 they told me i have 4 cats and suggested to get rid of the stock cats and replace my last 2 cats with high flow cats. Does this set up goes for the explorer too.

Need your advise and opinion. Thanks!

Im not able to tell you what to do in your exact situation.

BUT.

In most cars/trucks, there are TOO MANY cats already....

For example in my 94 mustang(v6). It has 4 cats.......2 regular cats, and 2 Pre-cats(smaller). I deleted the 2 pre cats completely, and replaced the 2 regular cats with High-Flows.
I passed emissions perfectly fine.
(however I went threw like 6 catalytic converters in a couple years, but im guessing this was because I was running too Rich, and I dragged them on one too many speedbumps,)

So in your situation.
What I would do is, delete ANY smaller pre-cat style converters, and replace them with exhaust pipe.(duhhh)

And find the 1 or 2 Regular cats you have, and replace them with High-Flow converters!

Depending on the stock exhaust system, this can be different from truck to truck.....or car to car.

Basically, take a look under your truck, find out how many Cats you got....be sure to look up near the FRONT of the exhaust too......which is right near the Exhaust Manifolds......cause they like to hide Pre-Cats up near there.

You'd be surprised how easily you can still pass emissions with little to none cats.....

Oh yea, make sure not to delete Cats with o2 sensors on them, cause you might need a MIL eliminator or some other way to fool the computer.

My 02 had 3 cats, 2 in the front and one in the back. I say had because i had the rear one removed and a hig floe muffler installed.
