1997 Explorer Limited SOHC V6:

I seem to have an unusual question - no past posts matched up.

A scumbag cut off both my catalytic converters and took the down stream O2 sensors along. So I have two dangling wire stubs and no idea which goes where. Both cats are on the right side and close to each other. Both wires are hanging together there, too.

So when I replace the O2 sensors and exhaust sections, how do I tell the 'left' from the 'right'? I have the console out and the access panel open - and the wiring harness is visible. Can someone tell me which one goes where? They seem to have identical keying.

I have the OHV engine so can't help you....but some jerk stole CAT off my Jeep Grand Cherokee like 8 months ago...and then 4 months ago some other jerk "attempted" to steal both my CATS off my Explorer (at different location no less!)....couldn't / didn't finish final cut up front....guessing he had problem getting sawzall up there....it's an epidemic here in liberal California where costly crimes are now an infraction or misdemeanor -so no deterrent to crime ... criminals before law abiding citizens/cops...the Dem mantra... off soapbox.
P.S. CATS cost 3 to 5 X more here in California due to strict smog regulations / specialty CATS
Here's my quicky, inexpensive, custom CAT protector/deterrent I made / put on Jeep to protect new, replacement CAT..... going to add to Explorer probably today (coincidentally)

My deterrent is a semi-automatic carbine.

I’ve yet to hear something positive about California. Been there many times for work, have yet to discover a single redeeming quality.

Anyway, I’m sure someone will be along soon with a wiring schematic.

Found this but can't quite make out the harness overlap, too blurry when I enlarge photo:
