I'm getting a '91 xlt, and I have a pioneer fm mod. 6 disc changer. where would be a good location to mount it? Under front seat would be preferable, not sure if it will fit, though. If I put it in the back, I'm worried about it getting hit when hauling cargo. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thx

I put mine under the back pass side seat. I miss measured though and it hits the seat when down. I think that there is enough room to remount so it dont hit.

My 10 disk is in my armrest.

Yeah but on the 91-94 Explorer's there's no room in the console.

I'm have the same problem. I also have a 6 disk, & it will not fit under any seat, front or rear, under the dash, in the glove box, or in the console, I can only put it in the back somewhere, but then I use the X for stuff, & need all my cargo room, & also have the seats folded down alot too. I have had the changer for 6 months, & just can't find a place that meets my needs.

I might be out of luck. I may sell the changer and look for a 3 disc in-dash. thx

Do your year Explorers have the cargo pocket in the back? Try popping it out and putting the changer in the opening.

I've heard that if you buy the Pioneer 6-disc Changer, you can put it right under your right rear seat. It will not interfere with the seat when folded down. But that's for the '95 and up but I'm sure the seat designs in your rig are the same as the newer ones.
