Similiar problem.
I inserted a CD into my factory 97 XLT and the disc won't play or eject.

Any idea how to manually eject it?

mine does this every once in awhile (gets stuck), I just get angry and pound my fist on the dash and it comes right out every time.

couple things

My stock Ranger player ate the disc like that a coupla times... here's a few things to try:

1. Power down. Disconnect battery, then reconnect. Don't ask me why, but sometimes it spits then.

2. Using el cheapo radio removal tool, take out radio unit, gently shake the unit. The cd tray/player portion of it floats on rubber suspension boots. This GENTLE jostling sometimes re-seats the cd, if its slightly off. Re-insert into vehicle, try again.

3. If worse comes to worse: Remove radio, disasseble housing. You will need a fine, small torx driver for this. Seperate the CD unit from the radio by disconnecting the small and fragile harness connecting the 2 units. Remove the housing of the CD unit, and gently extract your disk. Re-assembly in reverse order, re-insert in vehicle. Try again.

hope it helps, pm if you got questions.

Well, tried 1 and 2...not sure I can handle 3 too well. Huge hands!

So it is time to think replacement.

Should I replace it with an Ebay same model or an after-market?

If after-market, what do you suggest for the family-type radio (nothing fancy, just need CD, MP3 is a bonus)

Thanks.

Finally got the courage to try Number 3...and the unit now works as intended!

Thanks!
