HEY
recently bought a 99 sport without a radio because i had a cd player already. i have already purchased a wire harness and connected it but cd player does nothing but insert and eject cds. buddy of mine says to put in a non-stock radio you have to bypass the amp. i have basically no knowledge on how to do this and any help would be great.

If all the CD player does is accept & reject CD's, it sounds like there may be a problem with your CD player. The '99 Ex I believe had the amp on the factory radio, whereas my '95 had it mounted in the rear. What is the radio doing? Does it static, sound, anything? There are a few different harnesses, are you sure you have the correct one?

Sounds also like the cd player just can't read the data... Have you cleaned the cd player inside with the $5.00 or so kit?

or I have a brand new factory 6-cd for $100 bucks:D

I believe Stic-o has the solution! :D

Ha! I have a JVC single din w/MP3 adapter - no more cds, no more cd errors... how's that? Low price too... :)

...and Donner takes the lead...

:D

Ha! :) Martini just needs to get a stereo... (not the JVC here) Sounds like mixing older technology with newer is costing him bucks $$$. He could have downloaded 100 iTunes already :)

i might just hafta buy that factory radio fellas cuz i can't figure it out. cd player i know is in working condition because i had it in a toyota less than a week ago and i know i wired everything up right (basically matching colors). player just won't open up (its a flip down one) and speakers make no sound at all, not even static but it still does accept and eject cds so i know it's getting some power to it. shouldnt have bought it without the radio, tired of listening to wind everytime i go for a drive. thanks anyways for the suggestions my explorer bruthas

I'm telling you I have a factory one for you. It came from a '04 Escape. I swaped it into my wifes '99 Explorer for awile, and when we traded it in I pulled it back out. Looks and works like brand new;)

Just wondering (for all you radio gurus out there)...In-dash single CD player in my 99 Explorer will not take a CD in on its own. I can force it in and it seats but will not play. It ejects normally. Is there something inside that senses a CD is in the slot and then draws it in?

I'm confused...

Do you have the radio or the cd changer? I think he's looking for the radio only.

It should not give you a problem...

When you put the cd in the slot, it should be effortless. I'm not a guru, just been through about 100 stereos over the years :) If you have to force the cd in, then it may need repair, cleaning - or a new unit. I'd try cleaning it first with one of those cd/dvd cleaning kits...

@Donner: he has the in dash 6cd changer, he has a for sale tread about it

Gotcha, thanks! Maybe I should sell the JVC too... ha :)
