I was wonderind if anyone has had a problem with an after market cd player skipping because I just installed my kenwood in my explorer and it skips when I hit bumps or I have it up to loud and the bass hits.

My Aiwa skipped all the time, but my new Pioneer rarely does.

When you mounted it did you mount it with the extra space on top or bottom? I've found they tend to skip less with the HU mounted on the bottom and the extra space on top. Not as ergonomic, but they do work better.

I've got an Eclipse that would skip when my bass hit, or a really big bump, but as soon as I put some foam aroound my HU, I have had no problems. Oh, and my extra space is on the bottom.

i had same problem w/bass-my space is at the top-i put foam around the backing of the unit and so far so good.......

Just be careful when packing foam back there. You could cause the HU to overheat.

ya your right-but theres not that much back there plus my unit isn't on for more than an hour at a time-so i think i'll be ok!

My clarion skips every once in awhile over railroad tracks and on the trails, but for a 3yr old deck I guess I don't really expect much in that department. I just can't get rid of it though, I was thinking of getting an MP3 deck, but I love the style of my old clarion!
